The property extends right on to the beach and the lodge buildings are set back about 100m up the ridge, overlooking the sea. The spectacular 550,000 litre infinity pool on the beach front offers a welcome retreat from the heat of the day. It boasts a gentle sloped beach entry, martini double tiered seats, and Jacuzzi jets and bubbles with a stunning water feature.

The pool bar, overlooking the gardens, pool and beach, offers a relaxed atmosphere. A big screen TV for the sports fans, a selection of drinks, shooters, and cocktails are available from this fully equipped bar. Care has been taken in the placement of all chalets to provide guests with views of the sea, while retaining privacy in the rooms. Where possible existing flora has been incorporated into patios and indigenous bush has been kept. The Luxury Chalets are positioned on the 100m drop to the beach, each patio faces the ocean and offers exceptional views of the sunrise over the ocean. Large glass doors and windows allow an abundance of natural light to enter the rooms and offer fantastic views of the ocean from each chalet. As the recession increases its grip on all sectors including the travel industry it is sad to see another company close it’s doors. Was it miss managed? Did it fall on hard times? Or is it being done to make a quick buck? These are all questions that come to mind. The latest company to close shop is a company called Travel Crossings. Ok it is never nice to see companies close down and it does send ripples through the industry. It is really refreshing though that the former MD Jacques Bezuidenhout has taken this on the chin and has personal availed himself to sort out any clients that have been affected by the companies liquidation. Good on you Jacques, not nice to see a sinking ship however making yourself available and dealing with the state at hand is exemplary. Good luck to sorting the affairs of Travel Crossings out.
This situation brings back awful memories of the airline Varig, they closed shop and let all clients fend for themselves, left clients stranded and penniless.

Ok so we have mentioned about the airlines shaving off what you get for your ticket money and how they are looking at ways to be come more cost effective. BA has taken a bold step recently to charge for pre seating and now they have reduced your checked in baggage limit for the USA from 2 bags to 1 bag. Sure a lot of airlines domestically in the USA charge for any checked in baggage however this is in the intentional flight arena. So now when you are shopping around for tickets, the best fare, rules restrictions and whether you get a free meal on the flight and a chosen special meal, oh and now add what baggage you can take to the growing lists of things to ask, I am dizzy just spelling it out. – this can be really daunting for a 1st time traveler. Book through an agent and ask the above questions to save yourself any surprises at check in. So now add checked baggage to your list of questions.
Here is the extract from the BA.com website:

Watch this space and see who will be the next airline to follow suit.
This is one place any rugby fan must put on their to do list! This weekend saw my 2nd visit to this awesome stadium. The gees (spirit) in the stadium is phenomenal. The shark fans and administration have the pleasure of watching rugby down pat to a fine art form. You may have heard of the party atmosphere before and after the game, well on my first visit at last years currie cup final I spent most of the time in the sharks supporters club. Managed to see more of the festivities this time and the immaculate running and organization of the events at the Shark Tank. Once you get over your vertigo yu settle in for a rugby treat the whole afternoon.

On closer investigation int the organization of the event you learn that season tickets are popular for R1000 a season, in addition to this you can purchase a designated parking space on the outer fields. Yup believe it for R1000 you can book a parking space less than 50 meters from the entrance. You can buy as many parking spaces as you want, together, so the spirit and camaraderie starts early in the day. This means you are able to book a nest of parking together where you and your mates can meet at every event. Oh and yes your space is respected, in fact they even put your name on it:

This is a family day and the youngsters running around even have their own area for kids/ teens right under the poles next to the field. They were having a ball.
Do yourself a favor if you are a sharks fan and have not seen a game at the shark tank yet, make a plan! If you support some other province, my sympathies, if you team ever visits Durban then do it! To watch rugby in the shark tank is brilliant, something every rugby fan should experience in their lifetime!
On arriving at uShaka you may think twice about paying the hefty R90 for entry to see fishes however I can certainly say that this is money well spent, especially if you have kids in tow. The place is immaculate, good value for money. What I can advise you though is you will certainly not get the same value for money if you do not plan this outing to optimise your time spent at this attraction. They feed the predators (sharks), have a dolphin show and also a seal show to boot. So to get real value for money check out their website:
You certainly want to catch the shows to get real value for money and optimal enjoyment while you are there. One warning though is if you hear of half price offers like that made at the “shark tank” on Saturday, be aware that this promotion was only for the combined ticket (Water attraction and sea world) – not mentioned when they were pumping the attraction over the loud speakers. Regardless even if you bought this ticket R120 and saved 50% you would still have saved yourself R30 or 30% of the R90 ticket price for Sea World, so do not be boxed around by cunning marketing, go out and have a blast, plan accordingly, say hi to the fishes and have loads of fun!
They are open and are looking fantastic! Had the privilege of a tour yesterday of the hotel. I like I like. This is certainly going to be the new place for business meetings, board meetings or a social drinks and dinner. The view is spectacular. There is tons of parking in Hyde Parka and the hotel is easily accessible from the underground parking lot. It well deserves it’s 4 stars. They have really pieced this master piece together very well. The mod cons in the rooms like the wide screen plasma TV, cordless phone or the ipod docking station they have done very well.
Have a look at this for a view: Yes that disappearing horizon is the view from the deck!

If you plan on staying here be sure to request a view and choose the right room type or you could be stuck with a view of the shopping center roof. The restaurant is called Bice Ristorante and with the view and Italian cuisine it is bound to be a winner. Do book here is the number: 011 341 8080, the bar next to the deck is phenomenal so go early and enjoy some sun downers before dinner.
Wow now this is the way to launch a new service, have a look at these fares:

Yup these are inclusive fares, naturally if you book through a travel agent there would be associated booking fees. These fares are brilliant. Have a look at the London routing for example the taxes on BA for a London ticket return – direct are R3393! Ok so we now have an airline that can in fact fly almost cheaper to London than what another airline charges on taxes!
What a crazy world of travel.
