On the 1st of April 2011, AIRFRANCE KLM will introduce a new Baggage policy. This applies to all tickets issued on/after 01 April 2011.
New baggage allowance
First class:  3 bags of 32kg each
Business Class: 2 bags of 32kg each
Economy Class, remains unchanged: 1 bag of 23kg

Additional baggage fee – Economy Class
Additional baggage fee for 2nd bag in Economy Class – 100USD.
No change to other additional allowances

Exceptions!

Travel in Economy class
2nd bag is free to/from Africa to USA or Canada destinations
2nd bag is free to/from West / Central / East Africa destinations

Flying Blue Silver, Gold, Platinum, Club 2000 members
1 extra bag permitted free over the free baggage allowance

Golf Bags
Up to 23kg free (the golf bag is not counted as part of the free baggage allowance)

In short this means when travelling to Europe you can only check in one bag now and goes on the piece concept and not only by weight.

1.    Air France KLM worldwide, including South Africa will change from weight concept to piece concept
2.    The first bag is free at 23 kg’s in Economy class. Business and First class passengers are not charged for the first 3 pieces of baggage.
3.    The second bag is still free for USA/Canada passengers at 23kg’s
4.    The standard charge for the second bag in Economy class to Europe is USD 55
