With Domestic flights and your rights here are some tips for you and examples on what you are allowed and what you are not:
Lost baggage:
Generally it is aprox ZAR160 per kilogram across the board except for Mango who offers ZAR2500 per passenger.
Weight Limits:
The most you are allowed is 25 Kilograms with 1time however the norm is 20Kilos. Hand luggage is 5 Kilos on 1 time and goes up to 8 Kilograms with SAA.
Excess bagage charges:
The cost for excess baggage ranges from ZAR20 per kilo on 1Time and up to ZAR28 a kilo on South African airways.
Final word on baggage: Be sure that you leave the checkin counter with your baggage tag do not give this to anyone else and do not loose it as this is proof that the airline has your bags and where it will be transporting them to.

1time lost 12kg of my luggage, valued over 4,5k of clothing and they promised to pay out less than 1,7k (Which barely covers a pair of jeans and shoes). The baggage enquiries dept is horrible! Unhelpful. The flight is the most cramped and uncomfortable, and the in flight meals are completely over priced. Its taken over 3weeks for them to process a claim for my luggage, and to this day have not phoned me once, rather I had to hound and chase them up. I suspect my baggage probably turned up in another airport long ago, but 1times apathetic, lackadaisical approach to tracking lost luggage sealed its fate long ago. THOSE CONSIDERING FLYING 1TIME BE WARNED! THEY LIVE UP TO THEIR NAME..YOU FLY 1TIME, NEVER AGAIN.
